HEAD OF FACILITIES AND SERVICES

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Facilities and Services to contribute to our school community at All Souls St Gabriels School (ASSG), Charters Towers (far North Queensland). The Head of Facilities and Services oversees all aspects of facility management, service delivery, construction coordination and contract management for All Souls St Gabriels School. The role is responsible for developing and implementing maintenance strategies, service schedules, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders. The role holder is responsible for maintaining high standards for the School’s physical environment, supporting school activities and leading a large dynamic team to deliver efficient and effective maintenance, ground keeping, catering and cleaning services. Accommodation will be provided on campus for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Guide and motivate the maintenance and services teams including cleaning, catering, laundry, maintenance and transport, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
• Team Oversight: Manage and support the maintenance and services staff, fostering a productive work environment.
• Strategic Planning: Planning all maintenance strategies and services including scheduling of preventative maintenance, end of term/year maintenance and cleaning. Long term forecasts of expenditure. Annual development of and tracking against a detailed maintenance plan and yearly improvement agenda. Planning for event support including logistics and troubleshooting.
• Project Management: Project managing all contracted works and internal projects to deliver building and services projects on time and within budget.
• Safety and Compliance: Serve as the Fire Safety Advisor and WH&S Officer specifically as it relates to facilities and services.
• Emergencies and after hours call out: The Head of Facilities and Services will be required to be available for after hour call outs to assist with facilities emergencies.
  

THE PERFECT CANDIDATE

As the Head of Facilities and Services, you will oversee both the day-to-day and strategic facilities operations at ASSG. This role offers the chance to collaborate closely with the Business Manager, Headmaster, administrative staff, and your large team to provide excellence in facilities management and service delivery.

Our perfect candidate would have strong communications skills, well developed people skills, project management skills of a high order and the ability to be flexible and creative whilst always maintaining a safety lens.

The role requires someone to manage a large team of services staff, manage rosters and deliver on project outcomes.

The following are the mandatory requirements:

Requirements:

• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• A high level of organisational and interpersonal skills.
• A high level of communication, written and verbal skills.
• Experience in managing a budget, and associated tracking and analysis.
• Proven expertise in facilities and property management practices and principles, with a strong track record of applying them effectively, preferably within an educational setting, including project management and co-ordination.
• Demonstrated capability in co-ordinating and overseeing contractors at all levels.
• Readiness to respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
• Ability to work successfully both individually and as a member of a team providing quality services with a client focus and projecting a professional image.
• Highly competent in computer skills (Microsoft Suite specifically or Google platform).

Mandatory

• Possession of a current Blue Card (Working with Children). This is non-negotiable.
• Agree to undergo a Criminal History/Police Check conducted by the School.
• Must be an Australian resident and eligible to work in Australia.

Work Hours: This is a full time ongoing role. Standard working hours are from 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for emergencies and School events.

REMUNERATION

Generous remuneration package which is negotiable for the right candidate including:

• $105,000 per annum
• 4 weeks annual leave
• Full accommodation and utilities provided on campus (as negotiated)

ASSG is an independent, co-educational, Pre-prep to Year 12, day and boarding School in the Anglican tradition. The School caters to students from all over Australia and is located in Charters Towers, 130km west of Townsville. The School cares for 450 students of which 200+ are boarders.
